Yan Yan is sick

Yan Yan has caught a nasty bug this time. She's down with a fever that comes back with vengance every 6 hours, a hoarse cough and stuffy nose. She has also discovered her dislike for paracetamol and iburfen, both medicines necessary to ward off the high fevers. To top it all, she insisted on sleeping in the living room for the last 2 nights (I wonder why?) and Yayu and myself have taken turns to accompany her both nights.

Can't wait for her to recover so that I can get my bubbly cheerful Yan Yan back again.

Girls' Drawings

In my opinion, my 2 girls can draw way better than I could at their age : ).

Sleeping on their own

There's always been talk in the household of letting the girls sleep on their own once they reach a good age. No more "Mama ta ta me to sleep" and no more "Mama squashed in the middle of the 2 sleeping girls". The girls have always responded negatively when we brought that topic up previously.

This time, inspired by Auntie V's attempt to put the 2 boys to sleep in their own room, Rui and Yan have agreed to try out the same. I still need to put them to sleep but after they have dozed off, I will sneak out into the master room.

This worked brilliantly the first night on Sat. I woke up at 5am, unused to not having the girls by my side, and waited for them to call out for me. Nothing. Yan only walked into the room and roused me from my sleep when it was all bright at 7+am.

On Sunday night though, it wasn't as smooth-sailing. Yan woke me up at 2am and I had to go to sleep in their room with her. When Rui woke up in the morning, she questioned why I was in their room and insisted she wanted to sleep on her own! Talk about new found independence!

Shutter Island

Been wanting to catch Shutter Island for the longest time. We finally managed to do it over the weekend and the wait is all worth while. I love the movie. I love it for the suspense, the twists and turns and the brilliant acting. Despite having no CGI effects or violent fighting scenes, the audience was kept on the edge of their seats throughout the 2+ hours. I have never been a Martin Scorsese fan. Didn't even see The Departed or The Aviator. But I am now a convert.

Ambidexterous?

I suspect Yan may be ambidexterous. This means she may be able to write with both hands with ease. Watch her in action.

Kids Run!

Rui has made the decision to take part in the Cold Storage Kids Run. We are happy that she is embracing a sporty lifestyly. We are even happier that she is confident enough to want to take part.

And the verdict is...

Rui enjoyed herself thoroughly at church today. She told me she would like to go to church again. She also said that she likes God and Jesus because they answer her wishes. So when Yan disturbed her just now in the car, Rui shouted "Jesus!" Quite funny and yet innocently heartwarming in a way. Looks like we won't be sleeping in on Sunday mornings anymore...

The topic on religion

Rui has been asking us questions about God, Christianity, Jesus lately. We can't give her good answers, given our limited knowledge on the religion. Her questions came about as 2 of her classmates have been talking to her about Christianity. I am surprised. Didn't know K2-ers can have a decent conversation about religion!

Anyway, I asked if she wanted to go to church with our friends and she said yes. Better to let her learn the right things from the right people. We will let her decide for herself if she wants to become a Christian or not. For now, we just want to get her questions answered.

So tomorrrow, I will drive her to church and leave her with our friends. I am curious how that will turn out!
