Our newest favourite haunt

The newly opened Bishan Park is now our favourite haunt.

Indoor Tree House

This is the indoor tree house built by Ben at the request of Rui. He used a foldable table, an old blanket and some raffia string connected to a hook at the opposite wall. The girls will sneak in there, read their books and do pretend play in that tree house. Perhaps we should aim for an outdoor tree house next.

Reading Time

Yan's reading has improved quite a fair bit.

Rui the monitor

At the end of the first week of school, Rui told us she is one of the monitors-in-training. The teacher had asked for volunteers for that post and 7 hands came up. The class then had to take a vote to choose 3 out of the 7 and Rui was voted as one of the 3. However, the 3 had to be observed for a couple of weeks before they are confirmed. Hence the term "monitors-in-training".

Today, she finally got confirmed as monitor and came back with a tie and monitor badge! We are very proud of her as we had not thought she would want to volunteer for such a post. We are happy that she decides to take on that challenge and is not afraid to take action to get what she hopes to get. Very brave indeed!

Rui's blog

To encourage her to read more, we mooted the idea on starting her own blog on nature and science to Rui. She took to the idea instantly.

Her theme for the month is Birds.

She will read books or google information on Birds and post on http://ruirui-theworldaroundus.blogspot.com/.

Her first 2 posts are on the Golden Eagle and on how to distinguish between male and female birds. Check them out.
