Good Cook IV

We are fortunate to have a helper who is has good culinary skills and is interested to try out new dishes.

Yesterday, we got a taste of her mee siam. She claimed it was her first time trying it out. The verdict was - simply sedap!

POSB Kids Run

Aunt V has a post on the same topic.

Mine will be about how whiny Yan was during the run. She started off fine, even tried to run a little. And then, the heat got into her and she started complaining that it is too hot, too sweaty and that she wants to sit down! I had to half-drag-half-carry her to the finish line. Afterwards, I asked if she wants to do it again next time and she actually replied yes! It's a no no no from me though.

Rui, on the other hand, enjoyed her run thoroughly. It helped that she had Shyan running with her.

I noticed many parents were able to run alongside their children even though they had no T-shirts and bibs. And we had thought we had to buy a bib to run together with our girls. Why the inconsistency?

I, Robot II

The last time they made a robot together. This time, it is a helicopter.

Penang 2010

We spent the Hari Raya Puasa long weekend at Penang. It was planned as a suprise trip for Ben's birthday and coincidentally, Uncle Sow Liang and family were heading back to their Penang hometown during the same weekend. They played good host, bringing us around the island, savouring all the Penang good food (char kway teow, authentic chendol, lor bak etc) and showing us the famous pasar malam. We had also wanted to take the famous Penang ferry across the sea to the mainland where Butterworth is but the Penang bridge had earlier caught fire and traffic was at a standstill there. At my request, we had dinner at Hao Yu Seafood, which is a dinghy little eating outlet by the sea, with a reputation for serving delectable seafood at very reasonable prices. The food was fine, in my opinion, but not fantastic to justify the rave reviews given out on that place.

The children were thrilled to see one another again. They had loads of fun at the hotel adventure zone and Batu Ferringhi which was right at the hotel's doorstep. The adventure zone had 3 huge slides that even the adults feared to attempt. One of them was practically a vertical drop. I shuddered as I looked down from the top. Not for the faint-36-year-old heart.

Despite us missing our flight back (we got onto a transit flight and only got back 3 hours later), we had a blast. All thanks to good food, good fun and good company!

Art Gallery

These are the 7 crayon pieces that Rui has produced since she started her art class at the CC. Which is your favourite?

I, Robot

They started putting together the Star Wars Robot lego set recently. It has been a couple of years since Ben bought it for himself.

Having no interest in such things, I only watched from the side. Surprisingly, Rui seems to enjoy helping the father. She apparently was responsible for the robotic arms!
